Vibrating Wire Embedment Strain Gauge
Model : GV-2410
A VW (Vibrating Wire) Embedment Strain Gauge is a type of vibrating wire strain gauge specifically designed to be embedded inside concrete or rock to measure internal strain.
It is commonly used in geotechnical and structural monitoring projects.
How It Works :
The gauge consists of a vibrating wire tensioned between two end blocks or anchors, all enclosed within a protective body.
The entire gauge is embedded directly into concrete or rock before or during pouring or construction.
As the surrounding material undergoes strain (either tension or compression), the distance between the two end points changes.
This changes the tension in the wire, which alters its natural vibrating frequency.
An electromagnetic coil excites the wire and detects its vibration frequency.
The change in frequency is proportional to the strain in the structure and is recorded by a data logger.
