Description: Sorbic acid is a white crystalline powder, sparingly soluble in water, but readily soluble in ethanol and other organic solvents. It exhibits good light and heat resistance, showing no change after heating at 140°C for 3 hours. However, it oxidizes and discolors upon prolonged exposure to air. 


Application: A novel food preservative, it effectively inhibits the growth of bacteria, molds, and yeasts without adverse effects on food. It participates in human metabolism and is internationally recognized as a safe food preservative. It can also be used in the pharmaceutical, light industrial, and cosmetic industries. As an unsaturated acid, it can also be used in the resin, fragrance, and rubber industries.
