Anti-FIIa and anti-FXa activity is the biochemical potency of heparin, which can be determined by chromogenic assays. Chromogenic substrates can also be used for clinical diagnostics. High-purity antithrombin and thrombin are powerful tools for the isolation and purification of certain species.
