The high-purity chondroitinase is mainly used for the determination of chondroitin sulfate (enzymatic hydrolysis liquid phase method).
Chondroitin sulfate degrades chondroitin sulfate A, chondroitin sulfate B (dermatan sulfate), and chondroitin sulfate C. This enzyme acts on and cleaves the β1-4 glycosidic bond between the disaccharide repeating units through a β-elimination mechanism. The degradation products are mainly unsaturated disaccharides, which can be detected by UV photometer (232 nm).
