4 Inch Boat Exhaust Hose
Most boats and yachts are equipped with a wet exhaust system. Raw water from the engine cooling system is pushed into the exhaust stream to cool hot gases and reduce engine noise. As the water absorbs heat and thus reduces downstream temperatures, exhaust pipes can be made of materials such as rubber, silicone or fiberglass. Compared to steel, these materials are lightweight, completely corrosion-resistant and flexible, or can be easily molded into different shapes.     
 
The hoses used in wet exhaust systems have a specific temperature rating. When the temperature rises dramatically due to accidents such as debris blocking the air intake, the flow of cooling raw water is interrupted and even the strongest hose cannot withstand the heat load and will eventually be damaged.
